The song of the seasons is always beckoning us. If we are willing to listen, we can be with the seasons as they really are: a constantly evolving series of cycles inviting us into a space of intimate relationship. How can we offer our attention to each of these cycles and their seasonal expressions?

This spring, join Sufi teacher and Emergence Magazine founder and executive editor Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee at Slowness’ Flussbad campus in Berlin for an evening lecture and all-day workshop exploring the themes of his new book, Song of the Seasons: A Meditation on Cycles, Story, and Humility (Emergence Press, April 2026). Rooted in the understanding that the seasons’ many cycles mirror the sacred nature of existence, the book is part of Emergence Magazine’s broader exploration of the changing nature of seasonality. In this lecture, Emmanuel will explore how being attentive to the cycles within the seasons deepens our relationship with place and the living world; how the cycle of birth, growth, decay, and death that underpin all life are part of a story that can help us navigate this time of ecological uncertainty; and how we must return to a kinship with the seasons that is rooted in humility and offering.

On Saturday, the workshop will explore simple practices and ways of being that can connect us with the ongoing unique expressions of the seasons. Emmanuel will offer instruction on embodied acts of slowing down, noticing, opening the senses, and aligning the cycles of our own body with those we experience around us. Drawing upon both Song of the Seasons and Emergence’s latest practice book, Requiem, Invitation, and Celebration, this workshop will reveal opportunities to engage with the seasons that are present every day, in moments striking and subtle, and how to be in a space of constant receptivity to these invitations. The workshop will include a talk, nature connection, deep listening exercises, walking meditation, and a catered lunch.
